As is usual here, we have gone straight from winter to summer, with today’s high in the low twenties. This is a sad, sad photo of the solitary crocus growing in my front flower bed:

When we first moved into our house I planted daffodils, crocuses and tulips in this flower bed, and over the years they have either been dug up by animals or just faded away. Every autumn I intend to plant new ones ready for the spring and every year I fail to do so. I am a terrible gardener.
